There is nothing better than getting out in the fresh air and sunshine. Today has been really beautiful, a striking contrast from most of the days this week, so a few hours down by the sea has done me a world of good. It’s all too easy to get depressed about the things that aren’t going quite the way we would like them to.
So getting out into the sunshine, instead of sitting in front of the PC, seemed like a very good idea. Walking along the prom from Branksome Chine to Sandbanks and back, taking in the sights and sounds of the seaside was just what I needed today. Having Steve and young Riley for company just made the trip all the better.
It’s funny, because The Dark Passenger was doing his best to persuade me to give it a miss. Just shows how wrong he can be sometimes.

Wonderful! Glad you had such a pleasant day!
Can you explain about The Dark Passenger? I can sort of guess what you mean but could you elucidate?

My Dark Passenger, or our Fundamental Darkness as it’s also known, is that little voice in our heads, that balances out our positive nature.
Sometimes it stops us doing things, finds excuses to put off the things we should be doing. Sometimes it tells us we are weak, that we are failures, that we don’t deserve happiness, stuff like that.
Everyone has one, the trick is to take control over it. But that is easier said than done, and each day, the control we have is different.
Knowing that we can have control is the start, taking control is the goal, taking a little more control over time is the path.

Thank you! I was thinking along those lines but your explanation has added a lot… and given me food for thought!

Hi Lois,
Long time no hear. Maybe you haven’t read anything that has stirred you to comment, but just thought I’d ask if you were ok?
